Lioresal 10mg

Lioresal is a muscle relaxant and antidepressant. Baclofen is active substance of Lioresal. Lioresal is available in dosages: Lioresal 10mg and Lioresal 20mg.

Lioresal 10mg is intended for people, suffering from diseases, such as infantile cerebral palsy, spinal diseases (of traumatic, infectious, tumoral and degenerative  character), spasticity in multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury as well as strokes and mood disorders in alcoholism.

Lioresal is for oral intake. For adults, initial daily dose is usually 15mg. Then, every 3-5 days the dose can be increased by 5mg to achieve the optimal dose. Maximum daily dose of Lioresal should not exceed 100mg. Withdrawal of Lioresal 10mg should gradually occur during 1-2 weeks.

Lioresal is contraindictated for people, suffering from epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, psychosis, chronic renal failure, hypersensitivity. Lioresal is also contraindicated for patients with a history of convulsions. Lioresal should not be taken by children under 12 years, old people, as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding. People with peptic ulcer, cerebral atherosclerosis and cerebrovascular insufficiency should carefully take Lioresal.

Lioresal can cause the following side effects:

  • nausea, vomiting;
  • confusion, dizziness, gait disturbance;
  • dry mouth;
  • hallucinations;
  • tremor, seazures;
  • depression, euphoria, apathy and other changes in mood;
  • diarrhea or constipation;
  • and others

Liver dysfunction can be also caused in prolonged use of Lioresal.

Symptoms of Lioresal overdose:

  • inhibition of the respiratory center;
  • muscular hypotonia;
  • confusion, coma.

In any of these symptoms, seek emergency medical attention.
